Startup Weekend February 2019 Recap
Have an idea but don’t know how to validate it, build a team and launch your product? Techstars Startup Weekend, hosted by Startup Calgary, is held three times a year and brings a minimum of ten ideas to life from Friday to Sunday night!
Startup Weekend welcomes entrepreneurial minds of all ages and experience levels to pitch a brand new idea on Friday. It brings together team members and the resources needed to pitch a base-level product to a team of judges on Sunday night. Every participant has the opportunity to step into a new role whether it be leadership or trying web development for the first time.
“Returning to Startup Weekend for the second time around was an incredibly humbling experience. I met and collaborated with an exceptional team of individuals who had a wealth of skills and experience,” says Linda Zhu, Team MyJobHub and Student at the Haskayne School of Business. “What was most humbling was that my team allowed me the opportunity to take the lead, despite the fact that they were more senior to me and well established in their respective fields.”
“Attending Startup Weekend was a big eye opener for me. Coming from a non-business background, I was thrust into an industry that thrives on innovation, mentorship and networking,” says Ramneet Kainth, Team Board Game Bin. “I experienced more than I could have imagined and will spend a few weeks processing all the big and small lessons learned.”
