Calgary companies amongst world’s most innovative startups
With over two million members in 500 cities, Startup Grind is a global tech community designed to educate, inspire, and connect entrepreneurs. Calgary companies Bootkik, Ingu Solutions & Virtual Gurus were recognized as Top 50 Grind Startups, and also featured as Forbes’ top 19 startups to watch, at the Startup Grind Global Conference in Silicon Valley.
“We see Bootkik as a platform that serves a global audience and Silicon Valley is the best place to start working towards that.” says Travis Parker Martin, Director of Product & Marketing at Bootkik. “I was blown away by the level of experience of the people who were willing to listen to a wild founder and saw our true potential.”
Calgary made a splash on a global scale with seven companies represented in the global startup tent alongside 200 companies from over 34 countries.
Each year, the Top 50 Grind Startups selected by the Startup Grind Global Conference participate in additional programming including three curated investor meetings and the opportunity to pitch alongside other global companies on the conference’s main-stage.
“We have realized how important it is for us to get traction in other markets. The VIP events and opportunity to showcase helped us connect with investors in the Valley and Los Angeles that will help us close our next round.” says Bobbie Racette, Co-founder & CEO at Virtual Gurus. “The investors understood our differentiator within minutes and we were surprised to learn that we are generating more revenue than many of the selected startups.”
