For the fourth month in a row of our event series VC Office Hours, we're giving 24 entrepreneurs the chance to network with fellow founders and a 10-minute one-on-one session with Jeremy Gilman of McRock Capital or Michael McGee of Avrio Capital.

Jeremy Gilman is the Principal of McRock Capital, a venture capital firm focused on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Jeremy leads McRock’s Calgary office and is focused on the origination, structuring, and execution of new investment opportunities. His responsibilities also include working closely with existing portfolio companies on corporate strategy, risk management, business plan execution, and financial planning. Prior to joining McRock, Jeremy worked in a similar capacity for a leading energy-focused private equity firm based in Calgary. Jeremy currently serves as a Director of the CFA Society Calgary (CFASC) and chairs the Outreach Committee; responsible for CFA exam preparation resources, relationships with post-secondary institutions, and financial literacy initiatives. Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Distinction from the University of Calgary, is a CFA charterholder, and has completed the Canadian Securities Course.

Michael McGee is a Partner at Avrio Capital has been investing risk capital in entrepreneurial small and medium enterprise businesses since the early 90’s. Prior to joining Avrio as a Partner in 2012, Michael spent eight years in senior investment positions at well-known Calgary based family offices, most notably, as Managing Director-Investments with Werklund Capital Corp. and as Executive Vice President-Investments with Cavendish Investing Ltd. Michael has extensive institutional experience in Mezzanine / Sub-debt financing stemming from his seven years with Bank of Montreal Capital Corporation, where he was recruited at its genesis in 1996 and as Managing Director, he launched its Western Canadian office in 1997. Michael was also a Vice President & Director - Toronto Dominion Bank Capital where he was involved with the launch of their subordinated debt initiative. Michael sits as a Director of several Avrio Investees, is a member of the Portfolio Review Committee of Innovate Calgary and the Finance Committee of the St. Michael Catholic Community. Michael has a Master of Finance degree from Loyola University, Maryland and an undergraduate degree from Western University.
