Celebrate diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace at the Women in Work Conference
Join us for the second annual Women in Work Conference to celebrate diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace. This year’s theme is Disrupting the Status Quo and participants will be encouraged to engage in critical thinking about existing workplace conditions and trends through conversations about technology, entrepreneurial thinking, mental health and engagement with Indigenous communities.
Daily workshops, panel discussions, and round-tables will bring students and industry professionals together to talk about the importance of gender equality in the workplace. There will be multiple opportunities for students to connect with professionals in their field of study and hear stories of some of the challenges they’ve faced and some of the successes they’ve had.
Aligning with International Women’s Day on March 8, the Women in Work Conference will help to acknowledge and celebrate the role that women play in the workforce, provide opportunities for students to critically question the status quo, and encourage women to pursue their career passions in a variety of fields. The conference will also provide men with the knowledge required to recognize the barriers faced by women and encourage them to become part of a positive change in the workplace.
This year’s conference will kick off with a keynote speech by Calgary entrepreneur, Manjit Minhas.
Minhas is co-founder and CEO of Minhas Breweries, Distillery and Winery, a company she founded at the age of 19 with her brother, Ravinder Minhas. A former engineering student turned entrepreneur, Minhas is now in her second season as a Dragon on the popular CBC program Dragon’s Den.
With her experience starting and expanding Minhas Breweries to the U.S. and 15 other countries in Europe, Asia and South America, Minhas knows what it takes to succeed in business. As a keynote speaker, she frequently shares the secrets of her success with students as well as aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned businesspeople.
For every Women In Work event that students attend, they will be entered into a draw to win lunch with Minhas.
The conference will wrap up at noon on Thursday with a TED style speaker event based on the theme of Disrupting the Status Quo.
