The Innovation Challenge is a two-day event organized by the Current Issues Committee of the Mayor’s Youth Council, a program administered by Youth Central, which provides student representation to Calgarian youth in meetings with Mayor Nenshi and in planning events and providing opportunities for Calgarian students. The Innovation Challenge is an opportunity for students aged 13-18 to collaborate in groups of 2 to 5 to come up with innovative solutions to issues facing Calgarians under the broad theme of Mental Health with potential integration of six subject areas: integration of refugees, youth homelessness, active living, community engagement, education, and disabilities. Participants must incorporate technological elements by creating products such as websites or apps and presenting their final projects to a panel of judges composed of industry professionals.
