Hosted by Calgary Artificial Intelligence Meetup

AI & the 4th Industrial Revolution + AutoML @ SAIT feat. IBM & DataRobot

First, David Manu (https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-manu-72165914/) and Crystal Lui (https://www.linkedin.com/in/crystal-lui-p-eng-b45bbb77/) will speak about new advances in machine / deep learning, optimization and IoT for heavy industries and manufacturing. New AI tools help automate the use of data to continuously learn about and improve the condition of the production value chain and its assets. These tools also provide continuous real-time situational awareness and advisory control using data provisioned by IoT networks. When combined with new optimization techniques and industry-specific semantic models, they arm plant and equipment operators with powerful new capabilities to improve yield, throughput and efficiency.

Next, Grisha Ivanov (https://www.linkedin.com/in/gdivanov/) will share some of the experience he's gained over the past few months of learning how to transform his knowledge of mathematics, statistics and programming into the world of data science and artificial intelligence. In particular, Grisha will share what he learned building a neural network from scratch in Python, and why neural nets are such powerful tools in today's data science environment. Grisha is a recent graduate from the University of Calgary with a background in astrophysics and geophysics.

Finally, Phil Unger (https://www.linkedin.com/in/philunger/) and Niaz Tadayyon (https://www.linkedin.com/in/niaz-tadayyon-m-eng-cbip-56423014/) will discuss automated machine learning—the process of automating the end-to-end process of applying machine learning to real-world problems. AutoML enables organizations to build predictive models that unlock value in data, making machine learning accessible to business analysts and allowing data scientists to accomplish more faster.
