Find solutions for the 21st Century Innovation University!
Canadian universities have done a great job of training Canada’s citizens (Canada has the highest proportion of post-secondary educated citizens in the world), doing some ground-breaking research and having some success at innovation. It is clear however that with radical developments in all technologies, including educational technologies, and the challenges of a society where machines will play a larger role in all aspects of activity and especially in the traditional workforce, that the past is not a good guide to the future. We have done a good job of training citizens for the traditional job markets and societal roles of the past, how will we deal with the future, where rapid changes in technologies and the job market make career paths more unpredictable and diverse?
How do we transition our universities into teaching, plus research, plus innovation powerhouses? In tackling new topics, areas and educational approaches, how do we create time within current traditional programs. Do we need evolution or revolution? What will our 21st century innovation universities look like? What will 21st century students want? Come and ideate and innovate about the University of the future!
